Mini will launch the new-gen Cooper S HatchBack with a petrol powertrain first, and the all-electric SE version will join the line-up later this year.
Mini Cooper S
The iconic Mini Cooper S is all set to be introduced in its fifth-generation avatar. At first glance, it’s safe to say that the design language is more of an evolution of the outgoing model. The redesigned grille looks sleeker, while you continue to get the iconic round headlights. The bumper design is more minimalist, giving the fascia a cleaner look.
The new Cooper S builds on Mini’s familiar design themes with circular headlights, a new and larger octagonal front grille, and triangular tail-lamps.
Interior & Powertrain
Its interior design still echoes a retro-cool theme, with the talking point being its one-of-a-kind circular 9.4-inch OLED infotainment screen developed with Samsung. Powering the new Cooper S will be the same 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine as its predecessor.
But in a higher state of tune—it now puts out 204hp and 300Nm of torque, an increase of 26hp and 20Nm. The power is fed to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Price
The outgoing Cooper S is priced at Rs 42.70 lakh (ex-showroom), and the new model is expected to be slightly more expensive.
