It has been as many as 25 years since the ferocious Kargil war of 1999 between India and Pakistan. Brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces fought valiantly to defeat Pakistan.
Since then, July 26 has been celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas. TVS Motor has unveiled a special custom motorcycle based on Ronin to commemorate this.
WHAT'S NEW INFO:
TVS RONIN KARGIL DIWAS SPECIAL EDITION
LEFT SIDE-PANEL, THERE'S AN ILLUMINATED 99 LOGO
The bike has some detailed customisations, including a very special, olive green paintwork on the tank, side panel, and the front mud-guard that showcases the valour of the soldiers.
The top of the fuel tank has been designed to look like steel armour, and has a Kargil Diwas logo on it. There are tricolour stripes on the tank that extend to the headlight unit, which also has an upright metal windshield. The indicators are shaped like an actual bullet, and are made of brass.
On the left side-panel, there’s an illuminated 99 logo that marks the year of the Kargil War. Moving back, the seat is chopped and has a suede leather cover that looks quite classy; same material for the handle grips too.
The subframe has been trimmed as well, and has a stainless steel luggage carrier. Finally, to complete the rugged look of the bike, both the wheels have knobby tyres.
The braking duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes, assisted by a dual-channel ABS system.
As for the performance, the TVS Ronin derives power from a 225.9 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 20.12 bhp and 19.93 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain is linked with a five-speed transmission.
The TVS Ronin is currently priced at Rs. 1.50 lakh for the SS base variant while the DS costs Rs. 1.57 lakh, TD at 1.69 lakh and TD Special Edition at Rs. 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom).
