Kia Motor India heralds in the festive season in India with two new vehicles in the luxury segment – 2024 Kia Carnival and EV9. The new 2024 Kia Carnival is launched in India for Rs 63.9L (Ex-sh) and is brought in via CBU route. Kia dealerships have commenced bookings for the new Carnival at Rs 1 lakh, which is fully refundable.
Things are familiar underneath the hood as the Carnival continues with its 2.2-litre diesel engine belting out 193 PS and 441 Nm. All that goes to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
This latest MPV is available in a single fully-loaded Limousine trim that's powered by a sole diesel engine and, at least initially, is only available as a 7-seater.
The front-end is chonky, courtesy of the upright face dominated by a large Tiger nose grille, flanked by vertically stacked LED headlights. The bumper has a sleek air dam which hosts the ADAS radar and right below it is a skid plate that adds to the beefy look.
When you come to the side, you’ll notice the raked A-pillar and upright styling that gives it a proper SUV-like vibe. Adding to the look are the 18-inch alloys that gives the side profile a more sporty look. And as it is the case with all modern cars, the highlight element at the rear is the new set of connected LED tail lamps.
It gets a boxier and sharper design compared to its predecessor and features Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, flanked by vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs, as well as 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The L-motif continues at the rear, with the tail-lights being connected by an LED light bar.
The Carnival for India gets two exterior colour options – Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black – and two dual-tone theme interior options – Navy and Misty Gray, and Tuscan and Umber. The cabin gets a 2+2+3 seating layout, with second-row captain seats with heating and ventilation, along with adjustable leg support.
On the inside, 2024 Kia Carnival gets 7-seater and 9-seater configurations, offering both driver and passenger comforts and conveniences. Features include a dual-screen setup with a 12.3-inch infotainment system sporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless charger, multi-zone automatic climate control and head-up display unit.
The HVAC controls are a mix of haptic touch surfaces and physical dials. The real talking point, however, has to be the powered second-row captain chairs with heating, ventilation and extendable leg support. It also comes with a powered tailgate and powered sliding rear doors.
Safety features include 8 airbags, rear disc brakes, ESC, Hill Assist Control, a tyre pressure monitor, front, rear and side parking sensors, 360-degree camera and an ADAS Level 2 suite. The ADAS features include Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.
