The Bharat NCAP has crash-tested the Mahindra BE 6, which has come away with an impressive 5-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection.
BNCAP has also crash tested the larger XEV 9e which, too, has secured a 5-star safety rating for adult and child protection. Notably, the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) scores for both these SUVs are the highest awarded by BNCAP so far.
The XEV 9e scored a flawless 32/32 in Adult Occupant Protection, demonstrating excellent safety performance across crash scenarios. In frontal crash tests, protection for the driver's and passenger's head, chest, and lower limbs was rated good, with no weak or marginal areas detected.
The side-impact tests revealed maximum protection, particularly with the inclusion of side curtain airbags as standard.
The SUV scored 45/49 in Child Occupant Protection, reflecting its child safety credentials. Dynamic crash tests for 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies yielded excellent results, with maximum points in frontal and side impacts.
ISOFIX mounts and support for i-Size CRS enhance its compatibility with various child restraint systems. However, the absence of some advanced child detection technologies was noted.
