Based on the INGLO platform, the XEV 9e excels in every department! Its futuristic design, lavish interior with plentiful features and powerful powertrains make it a super appealing SUV.
Mahindra hasn’t really attempted an SUV of a higher price bracket above XUV700’s. That changes now with the launch of XEV 9e.
With XEV 9e, Mahindra has firmly set its foot in the Coupe SUV territory in larger size than what other mainstream brands are trying. Size is Mahindra XEV 9e’s biggest ally and lends a puff-daddy appeal. Despite all the sportiness and raw road presence, there is an air of sophistication with XEV 9e as well, making it a unique product in the market.
Mahindra XEV 9e dimensions and styling
The XEV 9e measures 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm in width, and 1,690mm in height. This makes it longer than the 4,695mm-long XUV700, and its wheelbase, at 2,775mm, is also more than the latter’s 2,750mm. Mahindra claims a ground clearance of 207mm and a 10-metre turning diameter.
Mahindra XEV 9e rear
The XEV 9e's grille area is blanked-out, atop which is an LED light bar that runs the width of the car and connects the techy-looking headlight clusters. The liberal use of piano black on the exterior is meant to give it a premium feel. It also gets flush door handles, a muscular shoulder line, and specially designed aero-optimised 19-inch alloy wheels for added range – 20-inch alloys are optional extras. At the rear, it gets slim, connected LED tail-lights placed right below the boot spoiler. The unique 'infinity Mahindra' illuminated logo will be seen on future XUV models.
Mahindra XEV 9e Interior
The interior of the XEV 9e too looks like an update to the XUV700, but an extensive update to say the least. Two large screens are found desirable, but this one gets three screens, making it the first mid-size SUV to get the extra screen for the passenger side. The three displays comprise a driver’s display, an infotainment unit and an entertainment screen for the co-driver.
The XEV 9e gets a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the middle. A fixed panoramic glass roof is also offered, which is one of the many features on offer.
Mahindra XEV 9e Pack 1 features Unlike traditional trim levels seen with other Mahindra SUVs, XEV 9e gets Packs – Pack 1, Pack 2 and Pack 3. The company has only announced the features and equipment of Pack 1, letting people know what they will get as standard for the quoted Rs 21.90 lakh (Ex-sh). Mahindra XEV 9e Interiors

The XEV 9e comes with Mahindra’s ‘compact three-in-one powertrain’ that consists of a motor, an inverter and the transmission. A 286hp and 380Nm motor drives the rear wheels when powered by the larger 79kWh battery, with Mahindra claiming a 0-100kph time of 6.7 seconds. The 59kWh unit comes with a 231hp motor.
Mahindra claims that the front and rear disc setup, along with the brake by wire system, helps the XEV 9e brake from 100kph to a standstill in 40m.
